Dr. Shivanand B. Savatagi is a public health researcher and academician with 11+ years of experience in health systems research, community health, traditional medicine, and primary healthcare. He holds a PhD in Public Health (TDU Bengaluru) and an MPH from KLE University, with advanced training in qualitative research, mixed methods, health policy and systems research, and systematic reviews.

His work focuses on self-care, people-centred primary healthcare, integrative health systems, and traditional medicine practices, with field experience across Karnataka and Kerala. He has published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and international conferences, and contributed to interdisciplinary projects on NCD prevention, One Health, traditional medicine utilisation, and system strengthening under Ayushman Bharat.

Dr. Savatagi has received several prestigious fellowships, including the ICMR Senior Research Fellowship, TDU–IPH PhD Fellowship, two Belgian DGD/ITM Antwerp scholarships, and the Emerging Voices for Global Health (EV4GH) 2024 cohort.

As a faculty member and research mentor, he offers sessions on qualitative research, PhD supervision, scientific writing, and public health leadership. At the CIHW Academy, he supports research development, designs courses and workshops in integrative health research, and mentors faculty and fellows in building strong scholarly and translational skills.
